The K'klk

The K'klk are a human sized insectoid looking race with six limbs from Dorax on the <insert thread name here>. Despite their insectoid like appearance, their culture seems more like a combination of wolf packs and bird flocks. Originally descended from scavengers turned hunter/gatherer’s when their world’s oceans retreated.

Society is casted, castes are a combination of social, and chemical/pheromone based genetic changes. “Alpha Males”/Leader castes direct K’klk society. Other castes are cooperative, docile and passive as long they have an “Alpha Male” to follow.

Reproduction is asexual – adult K’klk store fertilized eggs/spores they exchange periodically with other adult K’klk throughout their entire lives. Upon their death, hormones are released that “activate” the eggs. The eggs will hatch and the larva will grow inside the adult carcass, and mature until they’ve eaten the inside of the body clean. They are then taken into the colony.

K’klk are very good with estimates and probabilities. Their society is relatively safe – only the Alpha males are risk takers.

The K’klk were the first among the current Tangle residents to discover FTL travel via the Threads. They discovered remains of a Builder outpost in their star system, and uncovered the secret of FTL using the Needle Drive.
